Paul Dyson

Chair of Governors

“I became a Local Authority Appointed governor in May 2015. My professional background covers roles in both the public and private sector. I attended the Royal Academy of Music became a peripatetic brass teacher and professional musician teaching students from primary school age to adults. I pursued a second career in hotel and catering during which I attained the position of manager in a large London hotel. Here I honed my skills in all aspects of business management. When my contract came to an end I then joined the Royal Air Force as a commissioned Officer specialising in catering. I retired from the RAF in Sep 2011 having attained the rank of Squadron Leader. During my RAF career I undertook a wide variety of appointments which involved me developing and using my experience and skills in areas such as leadership, financial and estate management, human relations management etc. Additionally, whilst in the RAF I gained my Certificate in Education (PCE). On retirement, I returned to work for a local care company providing specialist services for children with special educational needs. Finally, in 2014 I took up the appointment of school business manager at a special school, leaving in April 2015. As you will see from the above I have a wealth of experience and a wide variety of skills which I am keen to offer. I believe these equip me with the ability to be a critical friend and enable me to provide the necessary support to the school in order to deliver the high standards of education which our young pupils deserve. I feel honoured and privileged to hold this appointment and look forward with enthusiasm to meeting the future challenges that the role will bring.”
