MEET OUR PUPIL AND FAMILY SUPPORT OFFICER - MISS VINCENT
A warm greeting to parents/carers of Queenswood.
Who am I and what do I do?
My name is Miss Vincent and I am the Pupil and Family Support Officer, Attendance Lead and ELSA within Queenswood Primary School.
I have been in the role since September 2020 and am proud to be a member of staff within our diverse and thriving school. Previously, I have supported the teaching, learning and mental health of children in mainstream and special secondary settings. Since arriving, I have loved every second of my Queenswood life and aim to provide emotional and practical help and advice to families who are experiencing long or short-term difficulties, especially difficulties in school attendance.
My job is to build relationships with families and be there to offer support, guidance and alert them to external agencies for support where needed. In terms of support, I have pointed our parents/carers in the direction of financial support, Telford Crisis Support, provided positive parenting strategies, as well as educating them of the importance of their child/ren attending school and enabling them to access an education they deserve. I also support families through the Early Help Process and have good relationships with Strengthening Families practitioners, to support families further. What ever you or your family is struggling with, I will do my best to find the right support for you.
My role as Attendance Lead is to ensure children attend school every day to ensure they have every opportunity to learn from our excellent teaching staff and team. My aim is to support those families who may temporarily have barriers or difficulties in making this possible.
Designated Safeguarding Team
As part of the Safeguarding Team, I strive to ensure the safety of all pupils within school. I work regularly with different agencies to support children with identified needs, and am a first port of call within school if anyone (child or adult) has any concerns. This is all carried out within school policy, ad with the utmost regard for confidentiality.
I am also trained in ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support) and support the mental health and well-being of our children within Queenswood. Your child’s mental health is my priority and I am a very strong believer that a child cannot access the learning provided without feeling comfortable with their mental health or at least have the support, strategies and coping tools to ensure they can progress the learning and be successful.
